It is called Social Welfare to the group of factors that participate in the life quality of people in a society and that make their existence full of those elements that lead to human satisfaction.

As this definition is stated and applied to our sphere, we understand that the social services are the basic tools that our City Council has in order to improve the social welfare of all the neighbors of the locality, that is, of the society of Setenil.

One of this tools is the Home for the Elderly “San Isidro Labrador”, a public center which opened its doors in 1995. It has a specialized attention, library service, canteen service and café, among others.

It is located in Avenida del Carmen 31 of Setenil, its telephone of contact is 956124032 and the opening hours are from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00.

Other resources dependent on the City Council of Setenil is the well-known Home Help. We can consider this resource as a complement of the Dependency Law as it offers an assistant service of people with reduced mobility who still cannot be considered benefiters of the Dependency Law.

In addition to the cited above, the City Council of Setenil has the best possible resource in attention of the social services of Setenil, that is, its human team. In this case it is the team formed by the whole workforce, among which also can be included the city councilor of Social Affairs as well as the staff working in the City Hall.

The suggested activities to improve the social welfare of the different collectives are part also of the social services.

For instance, we cite the Program of Active Ageing which recollects the developed activities which try to improve the life quality of the elderly in a situation of dependency by promoting their autonomy and preventing possible situations of vulnerability linked to this age.

Other supported program in collaboration with the City Council is the food distribution made by the Food Bank. In this case, we try to assist the necessity of food for families in risk of social exclusion with special attention to childhood. In this case, we have the collaboration of the Provincial and European Food Banks  as well as the punctual collaboration of Obra Social La Caixa (La Caixa Social Works).

The area of Social Services also manages:

• Play center: Located in Venta de Leches s/n. Its opening hours in summer are on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 to 13:30 and on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 13:00.
• Child Nursery: Located in Avenida del Carmen s/n, its telephone number is: 956134525 and the opening hours is from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:30. Closed in August.
• All the programs and initiatives are involved with equality and Women.
